Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide clerical and patient care support, focusing on specimen collection and processing. The role includes venipuncture, capillary, sweat chloride, and other collections, with responsibilities spanning accessioning, preparation, testing, and storage.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred ASCP and CPR certifications.

Qualifications

• One-year clinical laboratory/medical office experience preferred.
• Two years phlebotomy experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes specimen accessioning, preparation, processing, and storage. May include phlebotomy.
• Performs clerical tasks and specimen accessioning per testing protocols.
• Maintains lab operations via equipment maintenance, quality control, and preventive maintenance.
• Performs waived lab testing and documents reports and QC activities.
• Upholds laws and regulations related to lab operations.
• Documents daily, weekly, and monthly tasks in work area lists.
• Delivers quality patient care and adapts communication for diverse populations.
