Job summary

HCA Florida Capital Hospital is seeking a Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our clinical team in Tallahassee. The role emphasizes specimen collection, processing, and accurate registration under supervision, supporting department goals for quality and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities include venipuncture and finger sticks across pediatric to geriatric patients, documentation, and using the LIS to manage orders. A Vocational/Technical degree is preferred and hospital experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Must be able to collect specimens and register them accurately.
• Proficient in venipuncture and finger sticks across age groups.
• Strong documentation and communication to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens and prepare them for testing.
• Perform venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks as required.
• Use the LIS and hospital systems to enter orders and track specimens.
• Educate patients and families on specimen collection procedures.
• Record and report results, maintain accuracy and turnaround times.
• Assist with clerical tasks such as phones and specimens routing.
