Job summary

HCA Florida Englewood Hospital is seeking a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist PRN to support specimen collection, processing, and registration under supervision. The role emphasizes accurate testing, patient education, and adherence to procedural guidelines in a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, heel sticks for infants, courier preparation, and maintaining documentation and lab safety standards.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical degree preferred.
• 1-3 years in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process and prepare specimens for testing under supervision.
• Perform venipuncture and finger sticks per procedures and orders.
• Register, document and track specimens and related data in the system.
• Educate patients and families on specimen collection procedures when needed.
• Maintain accuracy and cleanliness of the work area and follow safety policies.
