Job summary

UK St. Claire is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform patient blood collections and DOT drug screenings in a laboratory setting. Responsibilities include specimen registration, processing, and maintaining compliance with lab protocols and regulatory standards.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent with vocational/technical training and 2–5 years of healthcare experience. Phlebotomy certification is required. This role is based in Morehead, KY.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and glucose meter testing according to procedures.
• Identifies patients accurately prior to collection.
• Explains blood collection procedures to patients during the process.
• Collects and handles drug screening and breath alcohol testing for DOT requirements.
• Receives, validates, processes, and prepares specimens for reference laboratories including packaging.
• Maintains specimen collection area and equipment for efficient workflow.
• Documents and follows up on specimen integrity issues and manages rejections.
• Manages inventory for reference laboratories.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
