Job summary

The West Virginia University Health System is seeking a phlebotomy professional at the Uniontown area. You will collect blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture, perform outpatient EKGs, and ensure proper test preparation and patient identification.

You will also assist with clerical tasks and ensure timely processing of specimens. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, completed phlebotomy or nursing-related programs, and some experience with laboratory

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of Phlebotomy Certification Course, Medical Assistant Program, or nursing program graduate.

Responsibilities

Performs blood collection and processing for tests; venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other specimen collection.
Performs outpatient EKGs and supports hospital-based services as needed.
Verify patient eligibility criteria for collection and test preparation.
Instruct patients on collection and handling of urine and other specimens.
Sorts, transports, and documents specimens and test results to appropriate destinations.
Obtain and process laboratory specimens for testing.
Provide clerical and receptionist support to the lab.
Operate Cerner Lab System for patient encounters and specimen tracking.
Print and distribute patient test reports; handle outreach specimen processing and data entry.
