Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomy role under supervision of the Laboratory Director. You will receive and process specimens, perform phlebotomy, and handle clerical tasks in a regulated lab environment.

Responsibilities include drawing blood using aseptic technique, documenting requests and results, informing physicians of results, stocking supplies, and training others.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• California Phlebotomy Technician I or II certificate.
• Ability to read and understand simple instructions and write basic correspondence.
• Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
• No supervisory responsibilities in this role.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood from patients using aseptic technique.
• Obtains correct amount and type of specimen.
• Documents requests and released results accurately.
• Informs physicians of released lab results.
• Performs routing, handling, and processing of specimens.
• Orders, distributes and stocks supplies as needed.
• Trains and reports on the work performance of Laboratory Assistants.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Adheres to policy and compliance requirements.
