Job summary

Elliot Health System is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant – Phlebotomist to act as the primary contact for patients, physicians, and other health care providers. The role includes customer service tasks and non-technical lab duties to ensure smooth specimen flow, from collection to storage.

The position emphasizes phlebotomy duties, specimen handling, and interaction with clinical staff, with a varied 40-hour schedule including early shifts and every 3rd weekend.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy course or experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and review follow up work lists.
• Troubleshoot, review, and resolve issues.
• Facilitate non routine courier pickups.
• Verify patient requisitions are complete and accurate.
• Enter laboratory orders into EPIC and document collections.
• Receive specimens and verify demographics and specimen types.
• Perform routine venipuncture and assist with blood culture collection.
