Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Lab Assistant - Phlebotomy for St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. The phlebotomist will draw blood, prepare specimens for testing, and perform clerical duties to keep the department efficient. Emphasis on accurate patient identification and timely processing.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, data entry, and coordinating with lab staff. High school diploma required; phlebotomy certification preferred. Travel to off-site locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Phlebotomist certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide excellent customer service.
• Collect specimens according to established procedures from patients.
• Identify patients accurately and match identity with requested service.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as ordered by test orders.
• Perform clerical duties such as inventory checks, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
