Job summary

The Lab Assistant is responsible for supporting laboratory operations by performing phlebotomy on patients, maintaining lab equipment, processing of specimens, performing tests and quality control, and ensuring the lab safety protocols are followed. This role reports to the lab leader.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accuracy under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture per protocol.
• Label specimens and verify patient information.
• Assist patient before, during, and after collection.
• Process test orders in the LIS and Epic system per protocol.
• Maintain supplies and ensure equipment cleanliness and safety.
