Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis seeks a Lab Assistant I to provide general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry and pre-analytic processing for our 24/7 operation.

You may assist with patient and specimen registration, delivery of specimens, and related clerical tasks, working with a team in a fast-paced environment. Requires HS diploma and preferred phlebotomy training; strong computer, telephone, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
• May require a valid Indiana driver's license.
• Requires working knowledge of computers.
• Requires telephone skills.
• Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, order entry and pre-analytic processing of specimens.
• Prepare blood components as part of laboratory workflow.
• Register patients and specimens and deliver specimens as needed.
• Support related clerical tasks within the laboratory.
