Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant - Phlebotomist for our Primary Care site in Fairhaven, MA. This role conducts phlebotomy, collects specimens, and ensures proper labeling and processing within the laboratory, supporting patient care across inpatient and outreach settings.

The position offers a 40-hour workweek, day shift with rotating Saturdays, and a $2,500 new hire sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. A strong commitment to quality and safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
• ASCP BOC certification or equivalent required within two years from date of hire.
• Fully vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption.

Responsibilities

• Obtain specimens and volumes according to current procedures.
• Ensure all specimens are correctly labeled.
• Process and deliver specimens to correct laboratory departments.
• Enter specimen and patient information in LIS or logs.
• Perform phlebotomy on inpatients, outreach clients, home draws, nursing homes, and outreach locations.
• Maintain equipment and instrumentation.
