Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant - Phlebotomist to join our primary care team in Fairhaven, MA. This 40-hour day-shift position rotates every 4th Saturday, with hours spanning 7:00am to 6:00pm, ensuring timely collection and processing of specimens across inpatient and outreach locations.

Responsibilities include proper specimen handling, labeling, and accurate data entry into LIS, under supervision of the Laboratory Site Manager.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to successful completion of a college-based, nationally accredited phlebotomy program or a Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
• Certification from the ASCP BOC or equivalent is required within two years from date of hire.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or be exempt with signed statement.

Responsibilities

• Obtain correct specimens and volumes according to procedures.
• Label specimens accurately and ensure proper labeling.
• Process and deliver specimens to correct departments; enter data in LIS or logs.
• Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outreach locations; maintain equipment.
