Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Medical terminology desirable.
• Phlebotomy terminology knowledge.
• Ability to review and understand department and Hospital manuals and procedures.
• Finger dexterity for data transcription from requisitions to computer ordering system.

Responsibilities

• Maintain phlebotomy tray in a sanitary condition and ensure supplies are available.
• Perform venipunctures on inpatients, outpatients, ER and nursing home patients.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and verify ID.
• Label tubes at bedside with proper information.
• Dispatch specimens for courier transport to the hospital lab.
• Learn and apply new methodologies.
