Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the Marcum & Wallace Hospital team. You will draw blood samples, prepare specimens for lab testing, and handle clerical duties to keep the department efficient.

Key responsibilities include order entry, result look-up, report generation, and answering internal/external calls with courtesy. Travel to off-site locations is required; a high school diploma or GED is required; phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED.
• One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
• Collects all specimens according to established procedures from patients and ensures proper processing.
• Identifies patients accurately and matches the patient’s identity with the correct service for safety.
• Data entry and processing of specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as requested by test orders.
• Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
