Job summary

Central Georgia Technical College is seeking an instructor to plan, organize, and teach phlebotomy courses, including clinical instruction and grading. You will maintain grade books, follow approved syllabi, and ensure accreditation requirements are met.

The role requires travel within the college’s service area and collaboration with the Program Chair. Requirements include an accredited phlebotomy or medical lab certification and at least two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Current Phlebotomy Technician certification OR Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist certification.
  • Two years of experience as a certified phlebotomy or medical laboratory technician.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and teach phlebotomy courses.
  • Knowledge of current in-field procedures.
  • Ability to meet accreditation standards and program requirements.
  • Ability to complete required reports, records, and inventory.
  • Ability to travel to instructional and clinical locations within service area.
  • Applicants must complete CGTC electronic application and provide supporting documentation.
  • Current resume required; transcripts showing degrees.
  • Non-photo licenses and/or certifications fulfilling minimum qualifications.
  • Successful completion of applicable pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and teach phlebotomy courses.
  • Instruct students in clinical settings.
  • Demonstrate teaching techniques, testing, and grading procedures.
  • Maintain grade books and records.
  • Use effective oral and written communication.
  • Follow approved course syllabi.
  • Maintain program requirements and accreditation training.
  • Meet with students and college personnel regarding instructional programs.
  • Evaluate student progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Complete reports, records, and invoices in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory of assigned property.
  • Assist Program Chair with equipment and supply budgets and accreditation documentation.
  • Follow CGTC policies and procedures.
  • Teach day, evening, online, face-to-face, and distance courses as assigned.
  • Travel to Macon, Warner Robins, dual-enrollment sites, and other locations within the College’s service area.
  • Work 12 calendar months per year and 40 hours per week.

Job description

  • Travel to Macon, Warner Robins, dual-enrollment sites, and other locations within the College’s service area
  • Work 12 calendar months per year and 40 hours per week
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician by a nationally recognized organization (e.g. AMT, ASPT, NCCT) OR Current Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (e.g. ASCP, AMT)
  • 2 years experience as a certified phlebotomy technician or medical laboratory technician
  • Ability to plan, organize, and teach phlebotomy courses and instruct in clinical settings
  • Knowledge of current in-field procedures
  • Ability to maintain program requirements, qualifications, and accreditation standards
  • Ability to complete required reports, records, invoices, and inventory records
  • Ability to travel to instructional and clinical locations within the College’s service area
  • Applicants must complete the CGTC electronic application and provide required supporting documentation
  • Current resume required for instructional positions
  • Transcripts from academic institutions where post-secondary credit was earned, showing conferred degrees
  • Non-photo licenses and/or certifications fulfilling the minimum qualifications
  • Successful completion of applicable pre-employment screenings, including criminal history, motor vehicle records, employment references, drug test, fingerprint records, credit history, psychological screening, and medical examination
