Responsibilities

• Collect venous and fingerstick blood specimens from all patient types and age groups.
• Train and orient new employees, students, and homecare nurses in blood collection procedures.
• Operate laboratory computer system for job activities and area assigned.
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies.
• Package and transport specimens to appropriate departments for processing.
• Answer calls and respond to workflow changes in a timely manner.
• Ensure 100% positive patient identification.
