Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking a Phlebotomist Technician to join the Internal Medicine GPCP team. The role includes phlebotomy, specimen handling, telecommunication, and clerical duties within a hospital-based lab environment.

You will perform blood collection, ensure proper test ordering, and maintain specimen integrity while adhering to regulatory standards. The position emphasizes patient-centered service, confidentiality, and teamwork within a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Complete Genesis assigned phlebotomy course at Genesis laboratory.
• Sign off of competency to draw blood from Genesis Physician Services – yearly.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates excellence with listening, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and demonstrate proper collection techniques per policy.
• Maintain knowledge of laboratory tests and ordering codes.
• Process specimens while preserving specimen integrity for tests.
• Maintain records including chain of custody, consent forms, and lab reports.
• Comply with regulatory agencies including ODH, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA.
