The Phlebotomy Technician is an essential member of the medical laboratory team, primarily responsible for collecting blood samples from patients. They also facilitate the collection and transportation of other specimens like urine. Many patients may find needles and blood draws intimidating, making it vital for the technician to put patients at ease while collecting specimens.

This PRN position offers flexibility and growth opportunities, including potential advancement to leadership roles.

This role involves rotating shifts between 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

A successful caregiver will:

1. Perform blood collection procedures, venipuncture, and maintain logs.
2. Verify order requests and patient identification before collecting specimens.
3. Label specimens and deliver them to the processing area.
4. Perform specimen processing tasks like accessioning, centrifugation, and packaging.
5. Transport blood, samples, and supplies between locations.
6. Work across multiple sites such as Lakewood, Westlake, North Olmsted.

Minimum qualifications include:

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Proficiency with standard procedures and techniques.

Preferred qualifications include:

1. Formal phlebotomy certification.

Physical requirements involve prolonged standing, walking, visual acuity, and manual dexterity. Personal protective equipment will be used following safety protocols.
