Job summary

Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, MN is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain specimens from patients of all ages and support the laboratory in preparing samples for analysis.

This position offers 64 hours biweekly with straight night shifts from 9pm to 7am, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental coverage, HSA/FSA and 401k plans. We provide ongoing training and a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Degree from a Phlebotomy program with internship in an approved lab, or health-related education/experience.
• Effective English communication, both oral and written.
• Operate lab equipment such as centrifuge, microscope, and lab computer.
• Follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures; train for new procedures as needed.
• Complete on-the-job training and work independently with good judgment.

The purpose of the phlebotomist position is to obtain specimens from patients of all ages with care and concern for patient’s welfare and safety. The Phlebotomist will assist the laboratory in preparing specimens for analysis and perform various clerical duties of the laboratory under direct supervision.

Our staff and our patients benefit from our highly-automated, 24/7 core lab coverage. Our scope of practice is extremely comprehensive, including the following:

• hematology
• coagulation
• microbiology
• transfusion services
• chemistry
• special chemistry
• urinalysis
• cytology
• histology.

We also pride ourselves on helping up-and-coming lab professionals get their start by being a training site for phlebotomy and MLT interns. We are looking for hard-working, dedicated individuals to join our team!

Hours/Shifts

64 hours biweekly, straight night shifts from 9pm-7am, Wednesday to Wednesday, with a seven day on and seven day off schedule.

Compensation

Hourly Wage Range: $17.31 - $23.10 with a $3.55 shift differential when working straight night shifts. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications

Degree from a Phlebotomy program which includes an appropriate internship under the direction of a pathologist in an approved laboratory or previous experience or education in a health related field. Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to operate laboratory equipment, such as centrifuge, microscope and computer keyboard/word processor equipment. Ability to follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures and train for new procedures as needed. Must satisfactorily complete on-the-job training/orientation. Requires the ability to perform at an independent level with minimal direction; exercise good judgement and initiative; problem solve, and make decisions in a variety of situations.
