Job summary

Life point Health is seeking a Senior Phlebotomist at Maria Parham Health in Henderson, NC. The role entails collecting, processing, and preparing blood specimens for laboratory testing in an acute care setting.

You will perform venipuncture, verify patient identity, and safeguard specimen integrity. The position requires a phlebotomy certificate, BLS, a high school diploma, and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completed an approved nationally accredited phlebotomy program.
• Certification from ASCP or NHA required.
• BLS certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum of one year phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process and prepare blood/specimens for testing in acute care.
• Perform venipuncture with age-appropriate techniques and ensure ID accuracy.
• Maintain specimen integrity throughout collection and processing cycle.
• Serve as a resource for phlebotomy issues and mentor new staff.
• Assist with staffing/scheduling and collaborate with lab/clinical teams.

How You'll Contribute

The Senior Phlebotomist plays a critical role in supporting patient care by collecting, processing, and preparing blood and other specimens for laboratory testing in an acute care hospital setting. This position performs venipuncture and specimen collection using age‑appropriate techniques, ensures accurate patient identification, and maintains specimen integrity throughout the collection and processing cycle. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the Senior Phlebotomist serves as a resource for troubleshooting phlebotomy‑related issues, training and mentoring new team members, and assisting with staffing and scheduling activities. The role collaborates closely with laboratory and clinical teams to deliver high‑quality diagnostic services while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Candidates must possess strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
