Job summary

Interpath Laboratory, Inc. in Omaha, NE seeks a friendly Phlebotomist/Processor for evening, part-time hours. You will perform venipuncture, process samples, and manage data while supporting patient care and team goals.

Job description

We are seeking a friendly and energetic Phlebotomist/Processor with excellent people skills to enhance our team. Ideal candidates will have a collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting both our patients and our team’s goals.

Schedule:

• Approximately 15 hours/week
• Monday–Friday, 4:30 PM–7:30 PM
• Availability to work all five weekdays is required
• This is not a full-time position
• 401(K) with discretionary employer match
• Free clinical diagnostic laboratory testing performed in house

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
• Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
• Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
• Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
• Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Education & Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

• Minimum 6 months of on-the-job phlebotomy and/or pre-analytical specimen processing experience required

Licensure/Certification:

• Ability to pass a standardized color vision test required
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred

Driving Requirements:

Valid, unrestricted driver’s license

Physical Requirements: Work is performed in a clinical laboratory environment. Duties may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workbench, working on a computer, and repetitive hand motions.Physical requirements may include lifting up to 15 pounds, bending, reaching, and occasional stress related to turnaround time pressures. OSHA Category: This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
