Job summary

Interpath Laboratory is seeking a Phlebotomist/Processor in Washington to join a supportive team. The role emphasizes patient interaction, accurate specimen handling, and data integrity while working Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Pay ranges from $18.98 to $25.69 per hour with benefits including medical/dental/vision, a 401(k) match, PTO, and in-house testing. Experience preferred but enthusiasm and reliability are valued; certification MA-P is required.

• Washington MA-P phlebotomy certification is required.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and compassionate patient interaction is essential.

Responsibilities

• Administrative duties: customer service, phone coverage, monitoring instrumentation alarms.
• Venipuncture for blood collection and preparation of samples for lab testing.
• Data entry and verification of patient information; ensure specimen IDs are accurate.
• Receive, process, and package samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Follow safety, HIPAA, Medicare rules and participate in QA; cover shifts at other sites as needed.

Pay:$18.98 - $25.69 Per Hour DOE

Schedule:Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.
• Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
• Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
• Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
• Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.

Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Education & Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification (MA-P) required.

Experience:

• Previous on-the-job phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

• Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
• High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
• Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
• Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

OSHA Category: This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
