Job summary

Interpath Laboratory in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Phlebotomist/Processor who will provide exceptional customer service and perform various phlebotomy tasks in a laboratory setting. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and be certified as a Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy (MA-P).

The role includes handling blood specimens, performing data entry, and adhering to safety protocols, ensuring excellent health standards and patient care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification (MA-P) required.
  • At least 6 months of hands-on phlebotomy experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring instrumentation alarms.
  • Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required.
  • Verifying specimen information and performing data entry.
  • Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs.
  • Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, and quality assurance.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $21.14 - $27.00 per hour DOE

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring instrumentation alarms.
  • Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
  • Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
  • Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
  • Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Education & Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Washington Medical Assistant‑Phlebotomy certification (MA‑P) required.
Experience
  • At least 6 months of hands‑on phlebotomy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Physical Requirements
  • Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
  • High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.
OSHA Category

This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. Hepatitis‑B vaccination is offered to all performing these duties.
