Job summary

Interpath Laboratory, Inc is seeking a Phlebotomist/Processor to work at a busy one-person site. The role requires venipuncture, specimen handling, and accurate data entry, with patient-centered care and calm efficiency under pressure.

Washington state pay range is $17.50–$23.70 per hour DOE. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm. Benefits include health, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan, PTO, and in-house testing services.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification (MA-P) required.
  • Previous on-the-job phlebotomy experience is required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties: Provide excellent customer service, answer phones, monitor instrumentation alarms.
  • Technical: Perform venipuncture, obtain additional specimen types, and prepare samples for testing and screening.
  • Data management: Verify specimen information, perform data entry, properly identify patient information.
  • Specimen handling: Receive, process, and package samples for referral labs while maintaining integrity.
  • Compliance: Follow safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participate in QA.
  • Flexibility: Cover shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reliability: Maintain punctual attendance to support team and patients.

Job description

Join our team as a Phlebotomist/Processor and make a difference every day! We’re looking for an experienced phlebotomist who is efficient and organized. This is a busy one-person site, so the ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and can stay calm under pressure. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who provides compassionate patient care and takes pride in doing their work well.

Pay:

$17.50 - $23.70 Per Hour DOE

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For

  • Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening.
  • Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.
  • Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance.
  • Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.
Education & Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification (MA-P) required.
Experience
  • Previous on-the-job phlebotomy experience is required.
Skills & Competencies
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Physical Requirements
  • Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.
  • High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.
OSHA Category:

This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
