Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• General knowledge and education in phlebotomy from an accredited training program.
• Completion of formal training through an accredited phlebotomy program or one year of phlebotomy experience.
• BLS certification (Emergency Room Only).

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for phlebotomy skills under hospital and lab policies.
• Performs general clerical duties and minor technical tasks as assigned.
• Identifies patient and specimens accurately.
• Operates point-of-care instruments and performs tests per SOPs.
• Participates in unit-based Quality Improvement for the ED.
• Monitors and restocks ED supplies as needed.
