A leading healthcare provider in Spartanburg is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and collect specimens for laboratory testing. The ideal candidate will communicate effectively with patients of all ages and comply with department policies. Responsibilities include specimen procurement, data entry, and ensuring timely delivery of samples. Candidates must have a high school diploma and complete an accredited phlebotomy program.
Position Summary
Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens for laboratory testing. Labels specimen containers accurately, delivers them to the proper destination in a timely manner, and performs order entry duties as required. Must be able to understand and communicate the specific needs of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Compliance: understands and complies with the Standards of Behavior and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
Education
- HS Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
Experience
- Ability to draw an average of 7 patients per hour within the first 90 days of employment.
- Proficient in the use of Laboratory Information System within the first 90 days of employment.
License/Registration/Certifications
- Must be ASCP eligible.

Additional requirements include fluency in English, maintaining confidentiality, working flexible hours, reliable transportation, physical stamina for active work, and the ability to handle stress calmly. Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds and exposure to chemicals may be required. Must have manual dexterity for venipuncture, pass a color vision test, and have normal hearing.
