Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a licensed phlebotomist for a full-time assignment at a Blythe, CA correctional facility. The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm, for six months, with a one-week orientation.

Requirements include a valid CDPH-LFS Phlebotomy license and at least 6 months of licensed phlebotomy experience. Knowledge of venipuncture, specimen handling, and patient communication is essential.

Responsibilities

Job description

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENTneed of a Phlebotomist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Blythe,CA.

Position Details

• 40 Hours per week
• Location: Blythe, CA
• Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm (6 Months)
• Orientation: 1 week
• Rate: $25/hr ($1,00/week) Local or $30/hr ($1,200/week)

Must possess and maintain throughout the term of this Agreement a current and valid license issued by the California Dept. of Public Health Board, Laboratory Field Services (CDPH-LFS).

Must have 6 months of experienceas a Licensed Phlebotomist

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and finger sticks using standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, blood culture, syringes and butterfly needles;
• Communicate to patient/youth on the procedure to be done;
• Collect and distribute specimens from patient/youth for laboratory testing per testing requirements;
• Centrifuge, label and store blood samples for analysis by Clinical Laboratory staff and/or external laboratory service providers;
• Maintain inventory of supplies, stock supplies and hand trays;
• Follow Institution written standard procedures, or follow standard phlebotomy practices for positive patient/youth identification;
• Perform other duties as required including assisting Nurses, Medical providers, and/or laboratory personnel in obtaining blood from "hard to draw patients" and maintaining appropriate records of specimens drawn;
• Obtain blood specimens from patient/youth under a variety of conditions;
• Understand and follow written and oral instructions;
• Process non-blood clinical specimens accordingly for testing or send outs;
• Perform test order recording into electronic system per procedure;
• Handle and properly label biohazards specimens;
• Maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment; and
• Work under stress, critical, unusual or dangerous situations where speed and attention to detail are important aspects of the tasks.
