Job summary

Saint Marys Hospital Waterbury, CT is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to join the inpatient lab team on a per diem basis. You will obtain blood specimens, process specimens for analysis, and provide patient information to caregivers, supporting accurate diagnoses and timely care.

The role requires venipuncture per policy, proper labeling, and handling of orders. Education: high school diploma; national phlebotomy certification preferred; 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.

You would be responsible to obtain in-house blood specimens, to process laboratory specimens for clinical analysis and to provide patient information to the appropriate caretaker. Your work is vital to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients.

What you will do:

• Properly identifies patient per policy and performs venipuncture using standard/butterfly methods
• Labels all specimens following laboratory policy
• Receives/cancels/orders and processes laboratory/microbiology specimens

Work Hours/Shift:

Per Diem, Various Shifts and coverage on one weekend every 12 weeks & one holiday each year.

Must be able to work full-week, day shift to train in EPIC

Requirements :

• Education: High school diploma.
• Certification: Nat'l Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
