Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System in Plymouth, IN is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain blood and other specimens for laboratory testing, following physician orders and aseptic technique. Responsibilities include preparing sites, performing venipunctures, labeling specimens and transporting them to the lab.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED (phlebotomy training preferred); PBT (ASCP) certification preferred and about 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED; post HS education through accredited phlebotomy training program preferred
• PBT (ASCP) Certification or equivalent preferred; at least one year of experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood and other specimens for laboratory testing per physician orders
• Verify patient identification, prepare skin sites, perform venipunctures using aseptic technique
• Label specimens and transport to laboratory for analysis

About the job:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood and other specimens for laboratory testing according to physician's orders. Obtains needed supplies, verifies patient Identification, prepares skin site and performs venipunctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimen and transport it to Laboratory for analysis.

Requirements:

• Education:HS Diploma or GED equivalent. Post HS education through accredited phlebotomy training program preferred
• Licensure:PBT (ASCP) Certification or equivalent preferred Experience:At least one year of experience preferred.
