Phlebotomist at Providence Health and Services summary: The Phlebotomist at Providence Holy Family Hospital is responsible for efficiently collecting blood samples from patients of all ages for diagnostic testing, including venous and capillary collections. The role also includes specimen processing, distribution, outpatient reception, and clerical duties supporting lab services while adhering to standard procedures. Certification and laboratory experience are required, with a focus on patient care, professionalism, and teamwork within a healthcare environment. Description Phlebotomist – Clinical Lab Department at Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, WA Shift Details: Part-time, Variable shift and hours from 4-10 hours in length The Phlebotomist position proficiently and expediently obtains blood samples from patients for diagnostic laboratory testing, while maintaining an attitude of courtesy and professionalism. Venous blood samples are performed on all age populations, including the elderly and the very young. Capillary collections are performed using finger and heel sites generally from infants and children. Also responsible for limited collection of biological samples for microbiology tests if working in the Outpatient Patient Service Center. Other responsibilities include specimen processing and distribution, outpatient reception, and semi-technical and clerical duties intended to support the overall diagnostic services provided by the laboratory. Work usually follows standard operating procedures with exceptions or unusual situations being referred to appropriate technical, nursing, or supervisory personnel. Some analysis and adaptive thinking is required in the application of operating procedures, technical standards, methods, and techniques to perform tasks successfully. Required Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • 1 year Computer experience.
  • 1 year Laboratory or related science experience.
  • 1 year Working experience or internship in the clinical laboratory, physician’s office, plasma center, or other related business.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of Medical Assistant course.
  • Formal education in phlebotomy or college courses in anatomy, physiology, and other clinical sciences.
