Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking a Phlebotomist, FGP - Patchogue, to perform routine venipuncture and specimen procurement with attention to protocol and patient care. You will prepare patients, explain procedures, and ensure accurate labeling and specimen handling within our laboratory systems.

The role requires familiarity with EPIC and the laboratory information system, along with a focus on infection control, patient privacy, and collaborative care with the clinical team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of Phlebotomy experience performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Practical knowledge of information system operations.
• Phlebotomy Certificate and/or Certification in Medical Assisting or equivalent experience.
• Interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, physicians, and other customers of the Cancer Center.
• Strong verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong writing skills in English.
• Detail oriented and able to handle stress and maintain professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine Phlebotomy in a laboratory or patient area following SOPs.
• Labels specimens accurately and handles STATS specimens immediately.
• Labels Blood bank specimens per protocol.
• Performs quality control Phlebotomy procedures and disposes of used needles properly.
• Completes intake with vitals and point-of-care testing when needed.
• Validates patient medical records during access and updates.
