Job summary

Geisinger Primary Care Milton seeks a Phlebotomist to support inpatient and outpatient specimen collection in a clinical laboratory setting. The role emphasizes venipuncture, specimen labeling, and adherence to CLSI guidelines, with supervision from Laboratory Leaders.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomist I - less than 1 year of experience.
• Phlebotomist II - 1-2 years of experience or Geisinger's School of Phlebotomy Program graduate.
• Phlebotomist III - Phlebotomist II and ASCP Certification plus internal preceptor course.
• Experience as nursing assistant (NA), CNA, MA, CMA or similar will be considered.
• Military experience will be considered (US Army 68W Combat Medic, 18D; US Navy Hospital Corpsman).

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomists collect and procure blood and human specimens in clinical settings.
• Performs venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens.
• Demonstrates expertise in patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, accessioning and processing.
• Exhibits strong problem-solving skills and works in a team environment.
• Escalates issues to Laboratory Leaders when needed.
• Operates Geisinger business applications and tools as an autonomous end user.
