Job summary

Tennessee Oncology is seeking a Laboratory Phlebotomist to perform patient specimen collection and processing in an outpatient setting. The role requires strict adherence to safety guidelines for handling blood, body fluids, and hazardous chemicals, and accurate documentation of lab testing and quality control.

Responsibilities include maintaining reagent inventories, recognizing test-reporting issues, and communicating with clinic operations and lab managers.

Qualifications

• Excellent phlebotomy skills demonstrated in an outpatient or physician office setting.
• Experience in a clinical lab environment is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens for laboratory testing following safety guidelines.
• Record lab tests, perform quality control, and maintain inventory of reagents and supplies.
• Identify and report problems that affect test performance to management.
• Document corrective actions and maintain “lab only” charts as required.
• Maintain understanding of LIS for ordering, rejecting, printing reports.
