Job summary

Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking a phlebotomist to support blood collection efforts across our donor centers and mobile units in Connecticut. You will greet donors, perform blood draws, and ensure a positive, efficient donation experience under supervision.

We provide comprehensive training and onboarding to ensure success. Expect a flexible schedule with shifts between 6:30am and 8:30pm, including every other weekend.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Background in healthcare, phlebotomy, or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors warmly and educate first-time donors on what to expect to ease anxiety.
• Perform blood draws and collect specimens following established protocols (training will be provided).
• Operate and maintain medical equipment for blood collection and ensure proper storage.
• Verify and update donor information in BECS to create barcodes and inform staff of changes.
• Educate donors on donation options based on inventory and capacity; explain automated donations benefits.
• Adhere to infection control practices and proper disposal of supplies.
• Record and document donor interactions and required paperwork.
