Job summary

A healthcare services provider in Glen Burnie, MD seeks a Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The role requires pediatric, geriatric experience and accurate specimen handling in a clinical lab setting.

On-site, M-F, 8am-4pm with benefits available. Candidates should have a valid phlebotomy certification and applicable state licensure where required.

Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
Minimum 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
Minimum 1 year of experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience with pediatrics, geriatrics and hard sticks.

Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities.
Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Explain venipuncture procedures to patients clearly and courteously.
Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Follow physicians' orders and ensure 100% accuracy of labels and requisitions.
Package specimens for transport and store per protocol to maintain integrity.
