Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is hiring a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Assistant to join our Laboratory team. The role involves collecting blood specimens, preparing samples for microbiology, and performing select waived tests under CLIA guidelines.

You will work with 2nd and 3rd shift staff, handle LIS inputs, and ensure patient safety and accurate specimen handling while delivering compassionate care in a community-based setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required; phlebotomy program certification preferred.
• Graduation/certification from an approved phlebotomy program or certifying agency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens from patients using venipuncture or micro-puncture techniques.
• Plate specimens for microbiology and blood cultures following procedures.
• Operate centrifuges and place samples on instruments for analysis.
• Instruct patients on urine sample collection and testing requirements.
• Document lab results and prepare work lists for morning dispatch.
