Job summary

Ashtabula Regional Medical Center in Ashtabula, OH is seeking a phlebotomist for the Laboratory. The role involves specimen collection, labeling, accessioning and distributing samples to testing departments with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include handling courtesy calls, maintaining a clean, stocked work area and complying with OSHA/BS standards. A PBT certification is preferred; LIS experience and a valid driver’s license are advantageous for off-site collections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy expertise.
• Ability to work with LIS.
• Must provide own transportation for off-site collections.
• Clerical experience with telephone, fax, copier and office software preferred.
• Medical terminology course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates phlebotomy skills with speed, safety and accuracy on all patient types.
• Prioritizes, accessions, labels, and distributes specimens for testing to appropriate departments.
• Handles incoming calls with courtesy and efficiency.
• Maintains appearance of work area with cleanliness and adequate supply stock.
