Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Valid state phlebotomy certification, where required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong attention to detail and specimen-handling accuracy.
• Excellent communication and patient-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and venipunctures using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect, label, process, and store specimens per procedures.
• Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Record equipment maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
• Update patient information and verify physician orders and laboratory requisitions.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients clearly.
• Package specimens for transport and ensure proper storage temperatures.
• Follow established protocols for specimen collection, processing, and transportation.
• Comply with OSHA, DEP, and other safety and regulatory requirements.
• Attend annual departmental training sessions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results as appropriate.
• Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvement recommendations.
