Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Duration: 3 months

Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States, 63701

Shift: Hours for site are M-F 8a-5p (Day/Central)

Summary

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, whether as part of their routine health checks or for important health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing following established procedures. This role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, and explaining procedures clearly. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focuses on process excellence, and maintains confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Depending on operational needs, assignments may vary across doctors' offices, patient service centers, or other locations.

Under the supervision of the area manager, perform daily activities accurately and timely, maintain a safe and professional environment, and handle both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with confidence and adherence to protocols. Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signatures post-venipuncture, to ensure correct labeling. Maintain required records and documentation, and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public.

Job Requirements
  1. Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  3. Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  4. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  5. Adherence to policies, procedures, dress code, and safety standards.
  6. Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
  7. Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
  8. Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
  9. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  10. Strong customer service skills, open communication, adaptability, and knowledge of our business.
  11. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  3. Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
  1. Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  2. Preferably at least two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
  3. Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
  4. Keyboard/data entry experience.
