Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Phlebotomist I to perform phlebotomy and related specimen collection procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes processing, labeling, transporting specimens, and inputting data in the Laboratory Information System, while providing patient care and handling clerical tasks as needed.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong customer service, organization, and communication skills and may have neonatal/pediatric phlebotomy

Qualifications

• 3 months phlebotomy work or training experience required including data entry and specimen handling
• Neonatal/pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent; course in phlebotomy/venipuncture preferred
• CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA) ASCP or ACA or AMT or NCCT preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection for in-patient and out-patient settings
• Processes, labels and transports specimens for laboratory testing
• Inputs and extracts data with the Laboratory Information System
• Performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and faxing lab reports as needed
• Maintains patient care and safety within scope of duties
