Job summary

Qualifications

• Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program; Phlebotomy/MA Certification preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must complete phlebotomy training
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

• Accurately completes patient identification with registration and order entry
• Receives specimens and distributes copies of requisitions to appropriate departments
• Collects lab specimens (blood by venipuncture and capillary technique, MRSA swabs, throat cultures, EKGs, urine) with accuracy and low rejection rate
• Clarifies job responsibilities and performance standards; communicates with supervisor regularly
• Assists in training and mentoring of other lab assistants
