Job summary

Intermountain Health Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah, seeks a Phlebotomist I to collect patient specimens for diagnostic testing in a fast-paced hospital and outpatient setting.

You will join a dynamic team, adhere to safety standards, and engage with patients empathetically while performing venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections. Opportunities exist for growth and cross-training.

Qualifications

• BLS Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent, Preferred.
• Six months of phlebotomy experience, phlebotomy training or national certification as approved by manager/supervisor. Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect patient specimens for diagnostic testing in a professional medical environment.
• Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collection across care settings including Outpatient, Emergency Department, and Inpatient.
• Adhere to PPE requirements and safety regulations in all settings.
• Communicate procedures and instructions with patients and family, showing empathy in every interaction.
• Support patient registration, CODE response participation, training of new staff, specimen processing, and special projects.
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas; navigate multiple computer systems.
• Be available for on-call shifts and holiday rotations as needed.
