Responsibilities

• Collects and processes blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary puncture.
• Ensures proper container type and labeling for specimens.
• Verifies patient identity and records information accurately.
• Delivers specimens promptly to the appropriate department.
• Provides courteous phone support to patient care areas.
• Maintains competency with hospital lab systems and documents procedures.
• Trains new staff or students in department processes.
• Adheres to PPE protocols and safety rules.
• Participates in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.
