Job summary

Talentify in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Phlebotomist I to assist in blood draws and specimen handling in a clinical laboratory setting. You will perform venipunctures, label and centrifuge specimens, document maintenance data, and ensure accurate labeling and transport according to procedures.

• 1–2 years experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making workflow recommendations.
• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture process.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders; match requisitions, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures and transport per protocol.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
