Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. seeks a Phlebotomist I in Bayonne, NJ, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The role collects specimens, administers oral solutions, verifies orders, maintains logs, and handles data entry, logistics, and customer interactions in a busy lab setting.

The position requires a high school diploma, medical training preferred, phlebotomy certification preferred where required, and English communication ability. Competitive benefits and incentive plans are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV and WA.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab systems and client contact.
• Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
• Enter billing information and collect payments following policies.
• Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport.
• Perform non-patient facing duties: inventory, stocking, sanitizing, filing, phones and email.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in-person training courses timely.
