Job description

Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Phlebotomist I for their Newark, DE location.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate equipment, update patient information, and other related tasks.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Ensure test requisitions match labels and scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at appropriate temperatures.
• Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
