Job summary

Endeavor Health seeks a Phlebotomist I to perform routine and special phlebotomy procedures across multiple patient service centers in Cook County, IL. The role requires accurate specimen collection, proper labeling, and timely documentation in LIS/HIS systems.

Travel between sites is required. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, CPR-BLS certification, and phlebotomy training; ASCP certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience.
• CPR-BLS certification required; ASCP certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred.
• Good communication, organization, and customer service skills; reliable transportation between sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special phlebotomy procedures as directed by supervision.
• Order tests into Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and document specimen receipt.
• Collect patient specimens appropriate for age and population served.
• Ensure correct tube types and adequate blood volumes for tests.

Hourly Pay Range

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

• Position: Phlebotomist I
• Location: Patient Service Centers; Cook County, IL Locations
• Full Time/Part Time: Full time
• Hours: Monday-Friday, days shifts with varied start times, e/o weekend and rotating holidays
• Required Travel: Yes

What you will do

• Perform a variety of routine and special phlebotomy procedures as authorized by the Supervisor/Manager/Director
• Responsible for ordering tests into the Laboratory and Hospital computer systems and documenting Lab receipt of specimens
• Collect patient specimens in accordance with test requirements and in a manner which is appropriate for the age and/or specific patient population served
• Collect blood samples for specific tests ensuring volume is adequate and correct tubes are utilized

What you will need

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience
• Certification: CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider required from the AHA and PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
• Experience: Phlebotomy training experience strongly preferred
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills needed, reliable transportation to travel between sites required, strong customer service skills.
