Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Current BLS certification or obtained during orientation.
• Basic computer skills required for charting and data entry.
• Strong communication abilities with patients and staff.
• Phlebotomy skills preferred for venipuncture and specimen handling.
• Offsite travel requires valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform venous blood collection with focus on patient comfort.
• Collect blood cultures accurately.
• Know color-top tubes, required volumes, and test requirements.
• Accurately identify patients by requisition and ID band prior to collection.
• Dispose sharps safely in rigid containers and follow precautions.
• Monitor labels/computer systems to ensure accurate specimen collection.
