Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast is seeking a Lab Support Technician I to join the provider care team, supporting reports, data and scheduling for the laboratory. You will handle specimen collection safely, ensure accurate processing and maintain HIPAA confidentiality while delivering compassionate service to patients and staff.

Responsibilities include specimen transport, processing of reports, and collaboration with lab management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum.
• Successful completion of probationary period
• No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely and effective laboratory support.
• Skillfully collect specimens for testing in a safe, professional manner.
• Process, transport and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Exhibit excellent customer service in line with Mercy Signature Service during all interactions.

The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
