Job summary

Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, AL is seeking a Laboratory Technician to review test requisitions, collect specimens via venipuncture, and transport specimens for analysis. The role involves performing lab testing and related support duties with a schedule that includes alternating weekend shifts from 9:00 a.m.

to 5:30 p.m. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math and reading/writing skills, and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required. Must be able to read, write and perform simple arithmetic at a level acquired through high school. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and perform simple arithmetic calculations to perform functions such as patient identification, determine weight and vital signs, etc.
• One year experience required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews test requisitions; collects specimens via venipuncture; accurately labels and transports specimens to the laboratory for clinical and biological analysis in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
• Performs laboratory testing and related support duties as required.
• Weekends will alternate with shifts being 9am-5:30pm.
